back home we had a great college station that did death metal Sundays starting at noon, right about when I got done with my forced church visitation of the week. I would go to my studio in the basement and blast the shit out of that show and hence I am a fan of alot of it.

505, is it worth even going back to see any car-related stuff from the night shift (sometimes there is some good stuff) or is it fraught with stuff that should have been on cigar lounge?

cigar lounge material, mostly. A couple of souls were trying to keep it car related but it is mostly what you would expect.

TL;DR = people have flocked to city centers because they are mad about a news topic, of which they heard about or read via social media. Now they are taking advantage of the situation.

TL;DW/DGI (Didn't get invested/involved) = If you conduct violence against black Americans and are not a black American yourself, you are a racist.

I have been to Memphis many times, and some of the shit I hear behind closed doors is possibly the most heinously racist shit I have heard, ever. And this is from the demographic you would expect it from the least. Not in public though

My father is a Memphis cop, he has told me of the absolutely ludicrous racism involved in the cities government. The funny thing is you would expect it to be racism against colored folks. (I hope no one is offended by that, it is just my kind way of referring to people of other races in general, black sounds very negative in my head) But it is actually corrupt people of color in office conducting worse croneyism and profiteering than Vietnam era war lobbyists for Boeing and Bell.

Just one case of almost Russia level corruption:

We had one mayor in office for over 20 years. Just before he left office, he unified the school districts (there used to be a Shelby county school system and a Memphis city schools system). This was the dominating priniciple of why people moved out of Memphis and into the suburbs. They justifiably want their kids to go to good school and get a good education and become successful.

So, he unifies the school districts in the last year of office, which then creates a situation that he further takes advantage of by busing kids from the inner city school out to the country schools (and I mean country, these school were on farmland outside of the suburbs, we are talking 60 miles from their homes). The suburbs, which oddly enough of actually principalities with a separate government than the county and city, have been outraged and have made a unified decision to build their own school systems outside of the now unified school district. Personally, I think this is great. It allows for less centralized control over education in West Tennessee.

But let us get back to the corrupt mayor. As he leaves office, he has the unified school systems superintendent do some very strategic layoffs. While he utilizes his financial position as an elected official to build a charter (private) school system network (which charges exorbitant tuition for non-black students), he then hires back these teachers that he and the unified school system superintendent strategically fired at a heinously low pay rate. What can these teachers do? They have been fired from the only school district currently in town, so their only option should they want to continue living in Memphis is to take a position at the charter schools.

The former mayor, now overseer of his charter school network, has refused to provide waivers to scholarship applicants to his charter school network.

It is genuinely brilliant and offensive at the same time. This was Mayor Willie Herenton. Please feel free to read up on what little information is out there. But mind you, this really went into full effect in 2012.
